LeRoy Winbush had no formal training to be a graphic designer, yet there is no denying that he is considered one of the greats. In a field predominately dominated by White males, Winbush was a pioneer who opened the door for countless young designers of color.

Winbush wanted to leave the world with something to remember him by, so he began writing his autobiography Design for Life. Unfortunately he was not able to finish this project before his death, but the friends and family of Winbush felt that it was important to fulfill this wish for him. In his own words, Winbush shares with the world memories of his personal life and his dynamic career.

Design For Life
This book tells the story of an extraordinary man. LeRoy Winbush was not only a designer of window displays, exhibitions and graphics, but also a dynamic entrepreneur. His career led him to found one of the first design studios owned and operated by African Americans. He did so in Chicago, which was fertile ground for Black entrepreneurs.
